Project aim: The purpose of the SAT-AIS-PL Phase A is to provide at the level of the feasibility study a mission of microsatellite dedicated for maritime related activities. Main objective of the mission is detection of Automatic Identification System (AIS) messages generated by vessels and providing this data to a data center localized in Poland. Additionally, the satellite will carry a prototype VDES receiver that will be one of the first appliances of that type functioning in space. The final output of the project will be launch of the satellite (planned in 2020) and its functioning for several years.

NIT tasks: Wireless Systems and Networks Department - Z-8 in Gdańsk (together with Gdynia Maritime University and Space Research Centre) is working mainly on developement of AIS satellite reciver and VDES receiver with antennas.
